Summary
Through the implementation of national infrastructure projects, Indonesia and Japan hope to build a deep relationship of mutual trust, and in doing so, develop into a friendly nation forever in the future.
Selamat siang.
Apa kabar?
Do you know this project between Indonesia and Japan?
Many Japanese people were disappointed that Japan lost the competition. Unfortunately, it also resulted in a great deal of distrust on the part of Japan against the government of Indonesia.
It is fair to say that Japan lost out to China, which has a clever diplomacy, but our disappointment was too great because Japan had hoped to accomplish this major project in cooperation with Indonesia.
Deciding on a national project based solely on the amount of money?
If a huge budget is needed for planning, it is natural to want to keep the amount low. This is because the national budget includes the taxes of the people.
Obviously, the reason why the Indonesian government chose China instead of Japan this time was because the cost of the project was lower.
Connecting Jakarta and Bandung by high-speed rail is an extremely important transportation infrastructure project.
I believe that infrastructure is a project that does not end after it is built, but begins only after it is completed.
And here, a long-term perspective is essential. It will have to be safe, stable, have low running costs, and have sustainability.
There is one thing that Japanese people always take into consideration when they are planning to conduct construction projects overseas. It is the future prospects of the local people.
In the case of this project, there is no doubt that many Indonesians will use the high-speed rail which connects Jakarta, the capital, to Bandung. Therefore, stable operation must be safely maintained and provided. And it must be done by the people of Indonesia.
Once the Japanese side has prepared the plans, we will move on to the construction work to make sure that the project is completed on time, and the local Indonesian people will be involved in the construction work. This has a purpose beyond giving work to the local people.
There are three possible purposes.
1. To have them acquire civil engineering and construction skills.
2. To secure local people who have actually been involved in the construction of the high-speed railroad.
3. To share the joy of completion!
Since the completed high-speed rail will be maintained and operated by the people of Indonesia, it is extremely important for us to work together on the construction.
National-scale infrastructure construction is an important device that will exist and continue to function in the future. In other words, it is not a gift that the Japanese can create and unilaterally impose on the people of Indonesia.
What we must not forget,
Today, the world's economic growth is based on capitalism. Anything that is thought to increase in value is turned into a financial instrument and placed on the market.
I don't mean to criticize capitalism.
However, I do think that for most people in the world, capitalism is just an invisible and vague social phenomenon.
The reality of economic growth is only possible because of the existence of ordinary people all over the world who provide labor, and the current misfortune is that capitalists tend to forget the existence of people who actually provide labor when they increase their own assets just by owning capital.
I think that work of value to humanity is the creation of great structures that are real, lasting and sustainable. I don't think it's a great job to buy and sell financial products on a computer and make a profit. Therefore, I believe that the act of using one's head and hands and cooperating with people to create something is only a noble and valuable work.
If Indonesia and Japan work hand in hand to build a Jakarta-Bandung high speed rail, it will be the greatest job for both sides, and it will also strengthen our future friendship.
Bigger and more developed economies are not better and superior. It is the countries that can build peace and prosperity in the future that are great and excellent.
I hope that Indonesia and Japan will continue to be friends in the future.
Sampai jumpa lagi.
:)
